Wilderness Medicine

Adventure Travel

If your goal is to master the principles and practices of wilderness medicine, Adventure Collection companies can help you achieve it. We offer a number of extended trips that include extensive backcountry training — and all in some pretty amazing locations. In the Rocky Mountains, you can paddle a canoe down a Class III rapid, while learning to make sound, first-aid decisions miles from the nearest road. In Patagonia, you’ll complete a twenty-hour training session taught by wilderness medicine experts; then sea kayak in breathtaking archipelagos, stopping to visit with locals along the way. In the remote Amazon, you’ll explore dry, upland forests and equatorial, lowland rain forests after learning first aid and how to handle various medical concerns of the tropics.

Along with fast-paced, hands-on, sixteen-hour first-aid courses that cover a wide range of topics for people who travel and work in the outdoors, you’ll find more advanced, eighty-hour, wilderness first-responder curriculums designed to provide you with the tools to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations. Learn how to manage wounds and infection, realign fractures and dislocations, improvise splinting techniques, monitor patients, take care of environmental emergencies, and get advice on the best drug therapies. You’ll gain prevention and decision-making expertise — not concentrate on the memorization of lists.

If you provide the wilderness medicine training desire, Adventure Collection can provide you with the perfect classroom.
