San Juan Islands Bike Tours, Sea Kayaking, Whale Watching, NOLS Mountaineering Courses, and More!

Our Washington adventure tours are as diverse as the state itself: From San Juan Islands bike tours, to kayaking and whale watching, to NOLS mountaineering courses in the Cascades.
Like green emeralds spread out across a sapphire backdrop, Washington State’s San Juan Islands sparkle in their blue, inland sea. Protected from heavy Pacific weather by the Olympic Mountains, the archipelago enjoys 250 sunny days a year — perfect for outdoor adventures.
On a San Juan Islands bike or whale watching tour, you’ll explore one of the Earth’s most aesthetic environments. The islands and their waters teem with wildlife: minke whales, orcas, and Steller sea lions cavort in the saltwater reaches, assorted seabirds nest on the rocky shores, and black-tailed deer quietly walk the woodlands and tall-grass pastures, browsing the wildflowers. As you paddle peaceful inlets and vast kelp beds, you’ll spot harbor seals, otters, and bald eagles. Take the ferry to island-hop, or pedal through stunningly diverse scenery, from conifer forests to farmlands to seaports.
Meanwhile, in the interior of the state, Washington national parks beckon. To the northwest is Olympic National Park, which spans nearly one million acres. And although the Olympic Peninsula is best known for its unusual rain forest ecosystem, the park actually has several diverse landscape settings. Here, beaches, temperate rain forests, gushing waterfalls, and the alpine lakes and meadows of the Olympic Mountains meet. And with more than five hundred miles of trails, Olympic National Park offers an almost unlimited potential for backcountry activities, hikes, and nature experiences.
Your Washington adventure could even include some outdoor education training to help you enlighten others about the thrills and physical and mental benefits of being outdoors. Washington’s North Cascades, often referred to as the “American Alps,” encompass some of America’s most spectacular scenery: jagged peaks, deep valleys, and more glaciers than any other location in the Lower 48. Many of the world’s top mountaineers use this area as their training ground; the reasonable access combined with challenging mountain classrooms continue to make this range one of the best places in the world to learn to be a mountaineer.
From low-lying islands to rising rain forests to soaring summits, a Washington State adventure tour is sure to shine.
