Nevada Tours and Adventure Vacations

Beyond Las Vegas — Discover Nevada’s Wild Side on a NOLS Course or Desert Expedition!
The first state to legalize gambling, Nevada is most famous for Las Vegas, home of fantastic mega-casinos, glitzy shows and recently, big-ticket dining palaces and art galleries. But there’s much more to the state than slot machines and staged spectacles. Outside Las Vegas, Lake Mead is popular with fishermen and water sports enthusiasts, while both the Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire State Park have magnificent desert scenery; the sandstone has been eroded into wonderful shapes over millions of years and at sunset these great natural monuments turn every shade of red. Elsewhere in the state, the azure shore of Lake Tahoe entices hikers and snow demons, the Truckee River makes downtown Reno a big summer beach party, and Carson, the sleepy state capital, features tree-lined streets, handsome old buildings and the Nevada State Museum, which covers the geology and natural history of the Great Basin desert.
